Rep. Biggs: Schiff ‘Crossed the Rubicon’ and Must Face Censure

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff has “crossed the Rubicon” with his push for President Donald Trump’s impeachment and “needs to be disciplined” by fellow chamber members, Rep. Andy Biggs, who has filed a motion to censure the California Democrat, said Wednesday.

“There is a whole host of particulars listed in our motion,” the Arizona Republican told Fox News’ “Fox and Friends.” “He has actually added to them since we went on the recess.”

Biggs said when Schiff opened the hearing for acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire in September with a “blatantly fake, fraudulent phone call transcript” of the conversation between Trump and Ukraine’s president, “it misled the American people.”

“Quite frankly it was over the edge and just pushed everybody over the edge,” Biggs added. “We have been watching him for two and a half years now abuse the process.”

Schiff also has been leaking information from emails to support his position, but undercutting it, and that shows the “fix is in,” said Biggs. “You get the sense that he is not going to let fairness and due process happen here.”

For those reasons, there must be a formal vote for an impeachment inquiry, said Biggs, agreeing that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi stonewalling by not letting lawmakers vote to agree on the probe.

“If she had the vote, we would actually set the rules package to go with the inquiry, so  Republicans could subpoena witnesses,” Biggs said. “The president could have his counsel there and we would have an open, transparent process. And it would be fair and the American people could see what was there and what wasn’t there when you start moving behind closed doors, you have obviated the due process (of) the most sovereign proceeding in the whole country.”
