Allies of the president are roasting CNN’s Jim Acosta over a tweet he posted ostensibly to show how safe the border is, but he reserved his ire for White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Donald Trump Jr.

In an attempt to undermine the narrative from the White House that there’s an emergency at the border that only a wall can solve, Acosta posted a video of the tranquil atmosphere he found there.

“I found some steel slats down on the border,” tweeted Acosta.

“But I don’t see anything resembling a national emergency situation,” he added, “at least not in the McAllen TX area of the border where Trump will be today.”

In the video he posted, Acosta notes there are no migrants trying to sneak in or “imminent danger.”

Sarah Sanders responded that the tweet from Acosta simply proved that walls do work.

“When I went with President @realDonaldTrump to the border today I never imagined @Acosta would be there doing our job for us and so clearly explaining why WALLS WORK,” she tweeted. “Thanks Jim!”

Acosta didn’t appreciate the snarky tweet from Sanders.

“While I’m glad she didn’t doctor this video,” Acosta responded, “unfortunately @PressSec is twisting the truth again.”

Acosta was referring to a video that Huckabee Sanders had posted which showed his altercation with a White House staffer — part of the video was sped up in order to make it appear that the reporter had been more aggressive than he actually had been.

“As we have been reporting today there are other sections of the border that don’t have walls or slats,” he added. “Yet, the residents here feel safe.”

Acosta also fired back at Donald Trump Jr. and his response.

“It’s a little strange Don,” said Acosta. “You guys seem to be saying the current measures in place are working.”

“Does that mean your dad should reopen the government and get federal employees back to work?” he added.

But the last laugh came from the president himself, who tweeted a common social media joke meant to ridicule Acosta for what many see as self-important tweeting.
