Meghan McCain Fires Back at President Trump as Cause for Disloyalty

Meghan McCain fired back at President Donald Trump’s proclamation the White House staffers who leak information to the press are “traitors,” and suggested the commander in chief’s management style triggers disloyalty.

“The View” co-host and daughter of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., has been critical of a distasteful comment made last week by White House staffer Kelly Sadler, who reportedly quipped during a private meeting it did not matter if the Arizona senator was opposing Gina Haspel for CIA director because “he’s dying anyway.”

The quote was leaked to the press, prompting Trump to tweet Monday:

Meagan reponded Tuesday on ABC’s “The View”:

“I will say one thing . . . My dad’s office, they never had a leaking problem, and you have leaking problems when you don’t have loyalty to the principal, when you’re not inspiring loyalty.

“It’s always a sign of a bad campaign or a bad candidate or a bad politician when you have rampant leaking problems, because it shows that you don’t have loyalty to the principal or the message. You have to look in your own house on that one.”

McCain, 81, is at his home in Arizona battling brain cancer and has not been able to return to Capitol Hill to work so far this calendar year.

There have been numerous demands Sadler, who privately called McCain’s daughter Meghan McCain to apologize, also make a public mea culpa. But so far she has not, triggering several Republicans and Democrats on Capitol Hill to bristle.

Meghan McCain also took issue with Trump’s assertion the leaks are “fake.”

“Let me tell you, as the person involved with this and got the phone call, she said it,” said McCain, referring to Sadler. “She admitted to it, so that part is 100 percent right, and I know because she called me and told me.”
